Senate Passes Foreign Aid Package 79-18
House Session - November 5, 2009

The House approved a bill extending unemployment benefits and expanding the first-time home buyers tax credit. Members also began work on legislation broadening the Department of Homeland’s authority over high-risk chemical plants. The House paused for a moment of silence in response to the mass shooting that day at Fort Hood, Texas, in which a U.S. Army major and psychiatrist fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others.
