Flash Video for Current Day Proceedings Seven Minutes Following Appearance

Flash video is now available for the same day that the Congress is in session seven minutes after the Member begins speaking. Each speaker is identified from the closed captioning. Note these data are not verified until the following day when we match with the Congressional Record.

C-SPAN Flash Video Player Allows Clipping, Posting, and Emailing

The C-SPAN Flash Video Player allows one to easily obtain the link to the speech and post the link on a web site, send via email, or post in a blog. All C-SPAN congressional floor video recordings are in the public domain and C-SPAN places no restrictions on their use.

Each Roll Call Vote and Quorum Call is Timed in the Chronicle

Every roll call vote and quorum call is timed so that one can easily see how long votes take. The vote outcome with Democratic and Republican margins is available in a pop-up right on the vote.

Congressional Proceedings from 2001 to 2008 Now Online

The Congressional Chronicle contains indexed proceedings from 2001 to the present. This includes the 107, 108, 109, and 110th Congresses. Previous Congresses are indexed as they are digitized. The 101st to 106th Congresses are being digitized and indexed now and will be released by the end of 2010.

Each Member has a Personal Page with Permanent Link and RSS Feed

Every Member has a personal page that shows all of their speeches for the past eight years with a summary of how many appearances they made per year. This page can be bookmarked to provide a direct link to the page. An RSS feed is available for your browser to give you an immediate update in your browser whenever the Member appears on the floor.

The Chronicle contains links to all actions on all bills. Floor actions of House bills are linked directly back to the video and Congressional Record text on the day they occurred.

Easy-to-Follow Chronological Organization

The easy-to-follow chronological organization allows one to immediately see any day that the House and Senate were in session, to go to that day, and see the entire day as a time line with speakers, topics, and votes. Every entry can be clicked on an expanded to play video and see text. Forward and backward links allow one to advance sequentially through the debate from any starting point that you choose.

Search Member Speeches by Word or Phrase

The Chronicle allows one to search for words or phrases spoken by any member and takes one directly to the speech where the words were spoken, highlights the searched words, and allows you to play the video.

Expanded Search in Development

An new, expanded search is in development and is targeted for release in August, 2008. Keep an eye on this space for more details.
