Specifically, they examined the burgeoning subculture of America during this period and compared it with the larger prevailing culture, including the Beat Generation and counterculture movement. Scenes of the Kerouac Commemorative Park and the columns containing passages of Kerouac's writings were also shown. Music from the period was performed by David Amram and video clips of venues associated with Kerouac in Lowell, Greenwich Village and other New York City areas were shown.
