They present statistics about American culture that many consider controversial as they draw comparisons and find similarities between seemingly disparate cultural situations. Topics included  microeconomics and accidental experiments, and challenging expert opinion and conventional wisdom. The guest interviewer was [Washington Post] blogger Ezra Klein, who had written several articles about their books. 
Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner are the authors of [Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything] (William Morrow, 2009). Stephen Dubner, a former [New York Times Magazine] writer, is also the author of [Turbulent Souls (Choosing My Religion); Confessions of a Hero-Worshiper]; and the children's book [The Boy with the Two Belly Buttons].</description>

      <title>Challenge for the Next Generation</title>

 During the morning panel of the 2005 Campus Progress National Student Conference, a panel was held titled, "Challenge for the Next Generation: Winning the Battle of Ideas."  The panel discussion focused on topics discussed in the book [What's the Matter with Kansas] by Thomas Frank and detailed challenges Democrats face in persuading voters in the American heartland to support the Democratic Party. Mr. Begala, whose provocative criticism drew rounds of applause from the audience, said that Republicans "want to kill us."  Following the discussion, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. Ms. Myers moderated the panel.
