In a portion of proceedings from the floor of the United States House of Representatives Representative Bob Livingston (R-LA) surprised House colleagues by announcing that he would withdraw his name from nomination for Speaker of the House and would also resign his House seat in a few months. This followed the publication of news stories about his extra-marital affairs. He said he was resigning to set an example for President Bill Clinton, whom he thought should resign also. close
