Professor Wills is the author of numerous works on American history, politics, culture, and religion. His books include: Chesterton, Politics and Catholic Freedom, Jack Ruby, The Second Civil War, Nixon Agonistes, Inventing America, Explaining America, Confessions of a Conservative, The Kennedy Imprisonment, Reagan’s America and John Wayne’s America. He won the National Book Critics Circle Award in 1992 and Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words That Remade America. Professor Wills' latest book is Negro President: Jefferson and the Slave Power.
