Journalists Anne Farrow, Joel Lang, and Jenifer Frank talked about the book they co-authored, Complicity: How the North Promoted, Prolonged, and Profited from Slavery, published by Ballantine Books. The book explores the lesser-known relationship the North had with slavery during the 1800s, including the commercial dependency on slavery. The authors documented how slavery helped to establish many well-known companies and educational institutions such as Tiffany's, Brown University, and Lehman Brothers financial institution. After their presentation they answered audience members' questions.
