Gary Hart announced his withdrawal from the Democratic presidential campaign less than a month after his announcement, bitterly criticizing political journalists for "dissecting" him. He angrily blamed the political system for reducing "the press of this nation to hunters and presidential candidates to being hunted." Senator Hart re-entered the race on December 15, 1987.
