African-American leaders spoke about race, religious, and cultural unity among African-Americans. Minister Farrakhan gave a rousing address featuring quotes from Jesse Jackson's "Keep Hope Alive" address and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a Dream" address. Following Minister Farrakhan's address, Dr. Chavis spoke about the need to address violence in the cities, drug abuse, and racial difficulties within and outside the African-American community.
