President Obama announced his proposal to extend for an additional year tax cuts made during the George W. Bush administration on people who make less than $250.000 annually. He emphasized the need to help the middle class and blamed much of the federal deficit on tax cuts for the wealthy, saying tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans should expire.
