Edward Humes talked about his book Eco Barons: The Dreamers, Schemers, and Millionaires Who Are Saving Our Planet (Ecco (March 3, 2009). In his book the Pulitzer Prize-winning author profiles struggling individuals and groups as well as the multi-millionaires and high-profile people who are trying to take the planet green. The guest interviewer was Matthew Kahn. He was interviewed on the C-SPAN Civics Bus while at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books which was held on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles, April 24-25, 2009.
Edward Hughes is the author of eight nonfiction books, including Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education, Religion, and the Battle for America’s Soul; Mississippi Mud: Southern Justice and the Dixie Mafia; and School of Dreams: Making the Grade at a Top American High School. He is writer at large for Los Angeles Magazine. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1989 for his reporting on the military in Southern California.
Matthew Kahn is a professor at the UCLA Institute of the Environment, the Department of Economics, and the Department of Public Policy as well as a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is the author of Green Cities: Urban Growth and the Environment (Brookings Institution Press 2006) and the co-author of Heroes and Cowards: The Social Face of War (Princeton University Press 2009).
