The Senate continued the impeachment trial of President Clinton with closing arguments by House managers. In often impassioned speeches managers urged the Senate to remove the president from office because he had abused his power through perjury and obstruction of justice. Representative Hyde compared the president's actions to a monarch's historical ability to reign through divine right.
