In March 1964, Jacqueline Kennedy sat with historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., to record seven interviews totaling over eight hours of the first lady’s remembrances of her husband’s personal and political life on the campaign trail and in the White House. The tapes were heard for the first time when they were released the previous month. Caroline Kennedy presented excerpts from the recorded interviews, accompanied by pictures. Then Mr. Widmer moderated a discussion with Mr. Beschloss and Mr. Donahue. The panelists also responded to questions submitted by members of the audience at this Kennedy Library Forum.
