Committee members made opening statements at a markup hearing on legislation dealing with tax “extenders,” a number of short-term tax breaks. It included an extension for the research and development tax credit, dealt with the alternative minimum tax, and ended breaks for expenditures and traditional subsidies for ethanol among others.
