Mr. Schechter was interviewed about the documentary he directed, “Weapons of Mass Deception: The Media and War Coverage.” He said his film shows how U.S. media, prior to the current Gulf War, did not oppose the war and presented administration reasons for invading Iraq without question. He also answered audience members' questions. 

Mr. Schechter is a television producer and independent filmmaker who also writes and speaks about media issues. He is the author of Embedded: Weapons of Mass Deception: How the Media Failed to Cover the Iraq War, published by Prometheus Books; Media Wars: News At A Time of Terror published by Rowman and Littlefield; and The More You Watch, The Less You Know published by Seven Stories Press. He is the executive editor of MediaChannel.org, the world’s largest online media issues network, and he has produced and directed many TV specials and documentary films.
