President Obama spoke at the second White House Science Fair, celebrating over 100 student winners from science, technology, engineering, and math competitions around the country. More than 30 student teams exhibited their projects. In his remarks, the president announced that his upcoming budget will request $80 million from Congress for a new Education Department competition to support math and science teacher preparation programs. In addition, he announced a $22 million investment from the philanthropic and private sector to support math and science efforts. close
