Six former U.S. trade representatives discussed U.S. options for expanding trade with countries in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and elsewhere. Several speakers were critical of the Obama administration, saying it lacks a comprehensive trade policy. Topics included recently announced high-level trade talks between the U.S. and Europe, China’s fiscal policy and its effects on neighboring countries and international economics, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). TPP is a multi-lateral free-trade agreement, originally signed by Brunei, Singapore, New Zealand and Chile in 2005.
