Julius Genachowski and Newton Minow spoke about the future of the telecommunications industry, their experiences as chairmen at the Federal Communications Commission, and the impact of new technologies on consumers and communications providers. The event marked the 50th anniversary of Minow's historic "vast wasteland" speech to the National Association of Broadcasters May 9, 1961, in which he severely criticized commercial television.
