A panel discussion was held by contributors to What Orwell Didn’t Know: Propaganda and the New Face of American Politics, published by PublicAffairs. On the 60th anniversary of George Orwell’s essay on propaganda “Politics and the English Language,” writers explored Orwellian tendencies in the 21st century including the effect of television and computing, the expansion of knowledge about how brains respond to symbolic messages, and the merger of journalism and entertainment. Andras Szanto, editor of the book, moderated. They responded to questions from members of the audience.

At the end of the program was a scene from inside the BookTV Bus to sign off the weekend’s live programming from the Miami Book Fair International.
