Final Briefings by White House Press Secretaries

On Friday, February 11, Robert Gibbs gave his final White House briefing as press secretary. We thought it would be interesting to look back at the final briefings of other White House press secretaries. You can find them all collected on a special page. Look back at Ari Fleischer, Tony Snow, Dana Perino, Jake Siewert, and Scott McClellan, Joe Lockhardt, and Dee Dee Myers as they gave their last briefings. Aid to Egypt Debated in Video Library

Congress has debated foreign assistance to Egypt in the C-SPAN Video Library. Just go to the Congressional Chronicle and type in Egypt in the text search box. In this clip Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) talks about his effort to shift funds from military to economic aid.

In another clip, Republican Representative Frank Wolf (R-VA) talked about human rights and U.S. policy toward Egypt.

El Baradei in Video Library

Mohamed El Baradei, a prominent leader in the Egyptian protests, has appeared many times in the C-SPAN Video Library. As director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, he has appeared at many United Nations meetings and forums on nuclear weapons. Last April, 2010, he gave a speech at Harvard where he answered a number of questions about Egypt. In an answer to a question he talks about being an agent for change and his chances of being president. In this second clip he talks about democratic change in Egypt and his interest in being president of Egypt. The C-SPAN Video Library can be used to follow emerging leaders in many countries.
