Christopher Hitchens, 1949-2011
December 16, 2011
Christopher Hitchens, writer, columnist, and social critic, had many appearances on C-SPAN, dating back to his first one in 1983 His final appearance was a Q&A interview in 2011 where he talked about his illness.
In addition to his earliest interview in 1983, his Booknotes interview, a three-hour In-Depth interview, and another Q&A interview, he debated Tony Blair about religion as a force for good in the world.
C-SPAN viewers might start at his bio page to review the many appearances of this witty, engaging guest, who challenged many conventional assumptions.

As a struggling first time writer, Christopher Hitchens will always be acknowledged, adulated, and defended in my prose. Thank you C Span and Brian Lamb for furthering the work of this unique and coruscate writer who will be sorely missed.

R.I.P. Mr. Hitchens. I pray there is a merciful god and an afterlife for you to write about

Thank you for doing this!. I also wish you would scheduled a Sunday of Hitchens interspersed with callers and comments but announce it ahead of time so I don’t miss it.
His death for me seems almost like a PERSONAL loss for some reason. I could cry, really. Doesn’t happen for me with public figures as a general thing.
Such a loss and so young!

I agree completely about the Hitchens Sunday. Thank goodness for the C-SPAN archives, and thank goodness , too, to Mr. Lamb for his many wonderful interviews with Mr. Hitchens over the years – a legacy to treasure.

I also would like a Hitchens sun. I also agree with Maggie about the loss seeming so personal. Thank you so much for the cspan video library. RIP Mr. Hitchens.
