Romney and Obama Commencement Addresses
May 17, 2012
On a recent weekend, both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama delivered commencement addresses at Liberty University and Barnard College, respectively. Dan Henninger, columnist for the Wall Street Journal, wrote a column on these two addresses titled, “A Tale of Two Commencements.” He argued that each speech reveals a view of the world by the two presidential candidates. Watch the Romney speech and the Obama speech, read the column, and see if you agree. C-SPAN and the C-SPAN Video Library allows you to see the candidates in their own words.

When will President Obama’s address to Joplin High School students be available?

For the duration of the campaign season, please consider listing the candidates names’ in alphabetical order by last name. That is, please list President Obama first, followed by Governor Romney.
For example the heading on this page lists “Romney and Obama Commencement Addresses.” If you’re not going to respect the Office of the President and titling him as such, then at least show that you are non-partisan by listing their names alphabetically. To carry the issue further, listing them by full names alphabetically (i.e. Barack Obama and Willard “Mitt” Romney) would affect the same results.
Thank you for considering this request.

Why do you list Mr. Romney first rather than POTUS? I find that interesting. My understanding of journalistic protocol is that one either lists the “most important” first or, to keep things orderly, in alphabetical order. You have done neither in this case. My comment has nothing to do with the one I prefer. I had no love lost for Mr. Bush, but would have made the same comment had he been listed after a challenger.
