Rep. Jack Brooks, 1922-2012

Rep. Jack Brooks (D-TX), a colorful member of Congress from Texas, who was with President Kennedy on his assassination day, passed away this week. He has 202 appearances in the C-SPAN Video Library. You can review all of his appearances on his bio page. In this interview in 1990, he talks about televising the House and his role in the process. In this appearance before the Rules Committee in 1991, he spoke about procedure for consideration of the Brady Bill, a gun control bill, which he opposed. In this clip, one gets a flavor of his speaking style and rapport with other members.
