Video Library Now Offers Downloads

January 6, 2011

The C-SPAN Video Library now offers users the ability purchase clips and programs and download them to their own computers. Some users have requested this so that they do not need access to the Internet when making presentations. Downloaded clips can be easily incorporated into Powerpoint presentations.

Initially all congressional committees and all White House events have been prepared for fast downloads. Other videos that are available for embedding can be requested for downloading. These videos will take longer to process and you will be notified by email when the download is ready.

Each download costs a small amount of money since you are purchasing video to take away from the site. They are much cheaper than DVDs, but the concept is the same. We think that downloads will be welcomed by some who need to have the video locally. The download button appears under the purchase tab.

The same use restrictions governing DVDs apply to downloads. The $100 annual license is available to organizations wishing to post downloaded video on their sites. There remains no charge for using links and embeds which always point back to our site.
