Senator Johnson on Withholding Consent
June 28, 2011
In a speech today on the Senate floor, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) threatened to tie up the Senate by withholding consent on Senate business. Most business in the Senate is by unanimous consent so the objection of a single senator can prevent further Senate action. Sen. Johnson cited the failure of the Senate to take up a budget and said he might start withholding consent. Following Sen. Johnson’s speech early this afternoon, the Senate has been in a long quorum call. You can hear Senator Johnson’s speech here.

Is he still using the quoram call to filibuster? Cool move on his part. He`s only shutting down the floor. Committes can go to work…..that`s what he wants. Kids, get your ~hit together

I got a feeling that the guy who wrote that Washington Post article a couple of weeks ago about the Senate spending too much time conducting quorum calls is not going to like this.

I hate how often they are waiting for quorum. It is crazy when they make $150,000, and don’t bother to even be present.
